When we divide the face into three parts as upper face, middle face and lower face, these three parts take up equal space on the face. A wider forehead area than normal disrupts the harmony of the face.
The effect of forehead reduction balances the width of the upper part of the face, making the face look more proportionate.
This surgery is especially beneficial for people with receding hairlines, because the hairline is moved forward after the surgery, increasing the overall harmony of the face.
The first method is a single-stage forehead reduction surgery. In this method, it is possible to move the hairline forward by 2-4 cm. The incision line is made along the hairline and the scalp is lifted back. During this procedure, the scalp is given flexibility and excess skin in the forehead area is removed, thus moving the hairline forward. Single-stage forehead reduction surgery is generally preferred for patients with a moderate need for hairline advancement and generally provides sufficient results.
In cases where further advancement is required, we perform a two-stage forehead reduction surgery.
In this method, in the first stage, we place a tissue expander balloon into the scalp. For approximately 40 days, this balloon is inflated at certain intervals to expand the scalp. This expansion in the scalp allows us to achieve further progress in the second stage of the forehead reduction surgery. In the second stage, just like in the single-stage forehead reduction, we move the hairline forward and achieve a narrower forehead appearance.
In both methods, our aim is to achieve aesthetically pleasing and natural results by providing the most appropriate proportion to the patient's facial structure. After forehead reduction surgery, patients usually say that they look more proportionate and younger.
