In some ethnicities, the nose may have different anatomical features. With ethnic rhinoplasty surgery, deformities and functional disorders that occur in the nose due to ethnicity are corrected.
When planning the surgery, the existing demands must be listened to very well and the planning must be made by taking these different concerns into consideration. Our main goal in ethnic rhinoplasty surgery is to provide the best possible aesthetic appearance without spoiling the ethnic appearance.
Unlike classic rhinoplasty surgeries, the main problems in ethnic rhinoplasty surgery can be listed as the flatness of the nasal root, the width of the nasal base and wings, and the droopiness of the nasal tip. Basically, these three problems are intervened.
Extra cartilage tissue is needed to elevate the nasal root and dorsum. The existing cartilage tissue inside the nose is not sufficient to correct these deformities. There are two options for cartilage tissue. The first is your own rib cartilage. The second option is fresh frozen cadaver cartilage. Of course, both methods have advantages and disadvantages over each other. Using your own rib cartilage leaves a deformity and a scar in that area, albeit minimally. The biggest disadvantage of fresh frozen cadaver cartilage is that it is extra costly. The biggest problem in ethnic rhinoplasty surgeries is skin thickness. The fact that the nasal skin is quite thick due to ethnic origins has a direct negative effect on obtaining the desired result. It prevents us from obtaining the image we want to obtain. Although the best result can be obtained with surgical experience, anatomical variations in the nose directly determine the result to be obtained. Before the surgery, a detailed analysis should be carried out to understand your expectations and determine whether your expectations will really be met.
