Breast implants used today have reached the most ideal form with the experience gained over the years. The main material of the implants is a silicone-based structure that does not react in the body. I would like to share with you five false information about breast implants.

1. Breast implants can be easily damaged.
The strength of breast implants is greater than the strength of human tissue. Therefore, the risk of being harmed by physical trauma is very low. Damaged implants do not cause any harm to the human body. The capsule around the implant keeps the implant contents in place. In addition, damaged implants are usually understood as coincidental with MRI taken for another reason or for control purposes. When such a situation is detected, the damaged implant is removed and a new one is placed in its place.

2. It is necessary to replace breast implants after a certain period of time.
The average lifespan of breast implants is 10 years. However, implants produced with today’s technology can be used for a lifetime if no problems are encountered.

3. Breast implants interfere with breastfeeding.
Breast implants are placed behind the breast tissue. Milk ducts are not damaged and breastfeeding function is not affected by this surgery.

4. A breast implant improves the appearance of sagging breasts.
Breast implants are used to increase the volume of breast tissue. Correction of sagging breasts is not possible only with implants. In this case, a breast lift operation is required.

5. Breast implants cause breast cancer.
Scientific research to date has not found any evidence that breast implants cause breast cancer. Recently, breast implant-associated lymphoma cases have been reported, and this rate is very low, once in 30,000 operations. In such a case, the implant must be removed.
