Vaginoplasty surgery is performed to narrow the vagina that has widened for some reason.
The most important reason for the vagina to be wider than normal is giving birth vaginally. Although the vagina has an elastic structure, it remains wider than before after a normal birth. This is more common in traumatic births. The expansion of the vagina is directly proportional to the number of births.
Aging also causes a loss of elasticity in the tissues. This leads to the expansion of the vaginal walls. Another cause of vaginal expansion is the changes that occur due to aging. The expansion that occurs in the vagina can cause a loss of sexual self-confidence. With the vaginal tightening surgery, the muscles in the vaginal wall are tightened and excess mucosa is removed. In this way, the vagina is brought to its appropriate anatomical width.
Vaginoplasty is performed under general or regional anesthesia. It can be combined with labiaplasty surgery. The surgery takes approximately one hour. Returning to social life takes an average of two days.
